Yeah, we have peacocks! Well, actually we only have one. But all the neighbors peacocks, like our yard better. Bob feeds them with special peacock food and our yard is like a special jungle for them. They can hide just about anywhere. The "girls" love us especially. They hang out all the time.
Every spring all the males converge on our yard to meet "the girls". They get hot to trot for them and do their little mating ritual. Feathers raise and the boys do the shaking thing. It is quite the show. Some of the "girls" ignore them, and some get nearer to them. ( I have never actually seen them do the deed). But we find eggs all over the yard. The "girls" will abandon them if something is wrong.
This year we became "grandparents" two times. Our peacock had 2 babies and one of the sisters of our peacock had 4 babies. The sad part was our peacock lost one after a few days and then the second died a few weeks later. It breaks my heart, because every morning she calls for them and they don't come. She tries to get close to her sisters brood, but the sister won't let her get
near them.
Finally we have babies!
